ABOUT US
Live Music, YOUTH-LED.
Giving Young Artists a Stage and a Voice
Sounds presents… is a youth-led collective based in Oxted, Surrey. We support and showcase musical performances by young artists, giving them a platform to perform live in front of audiences and gain real gigging experience.
We are excited to introduce Sounds presents… as an initiative dedicated to nurturing young musicians through a supportive and inspiring community. Our weekly rehearsals at St. Marys Church provide a neutral and accessible space for musicains to develop their craft and collaborate with peers.
We focus on live performance, encouraging artists to move beyond backing tracks and build connections with other musicians, forming bands and creative partnerships along the way. Members engage with a mentoring program and are given performance opportunities, access to equipment and promotional support.
We put on gigs packed with creativity and raw talent, all organised, promoted and performed by our young people. From indie to rock, from pop to alternative, our shows celebrate a mix of genres and sounds, reflecting the diversity and passion of the next generation of musicians.
But we’re more than just live music. Sounds presents… is also about community — bringing together performers, volunteers, tech crews and the wider Sounds community of supporters, to build something exciting from the ground up. Whether you're on stage or behind the scenes, there’s a place here for you and we will welcome you with open arms!
We’re proud to create a space where young people can express themselves, grow in confidence, and make real connections through music. Our weekly rehearsals foster creative freedom, keeping the next generation of the music industry alive.

Bringing experience, passion, and support to young musicians in Oxted
Sounds presents... is coordinated by Alexander Matthews, a keen bass player. With a genuine passion for music and years of experience both in industry and in supporting young people, Alex plays a key role in guiding the collective, helping it grow into a vibrant, creative space for local talent. He saw the potential in so many talented musicians who didn't have the opportunities to thrive and showcase the full extent of their abilities and gave them Sounds presents.... His commitment to mentoring young artists, both musically and personally, ensures that Sounds presents... remains grounded in encouragement, collaboration, and opportunity.
